SNSD has recently decided to release a repackage album of their first one Girls’ Generation in Japan on December 28. The original one was released in June 2011.

In this album, remix versions of the songs listed in Girls’ Generation, the third album’s title song “The Boys,” and unreleased song “The Machine” will be newly listed.

The Japanese press and fans are paying a huge amount of attention to the SNSD’s repackage album release. It’s because it is a new type of promotion in Japan and they think it is very possible for them to sell over a million copies.

SNSD released their first Japanese album Girls’ Generation on June 1. They sold 232,000 copies on the first week and topped all daily and weekly album charts of Oricon. The accumulated sales are 850,000 copies.

On December 7, Sankei Sports reported, “The repackage album release might be usual in Korea but very rare in the Japanese major music market. They already sold 850,000 copies of the original album released in June and will certainly sell over a million copies if the repackage album is included. SNSD is the first Korean girl group that sells over a million copies for a single full album.”

Indeed, SNSD’s Girls’ Generation topped the K-pop chart based on the total album sales of Tower Record, a major record shop in Japan, in this year.

SNSD was recognized for their popularity in Japan this year and will appear on the most renowned special music programs such as Fuji TV’s 2011 FNS Music Festival and the 62th NHK Red and White Song Battle on December 7.
